Congratulations graduates!
Undergraduate researchers Alexa Morton, Elizabeth Manriquez, Katherine Dullen graduate with the class of 2024.
Alexa Morton (B.S. Biochemistry) was recognized as a Dean’s Honored Graduate and a distinction in research. He honors thesis was “Developing a Broad-Host-Range Modular Microcin Secretion System to Protect Plants from Bacterial Pathogens”.
Elizabeth Manriquez (B.S. Biochemistry) was recognized with a distinction in research. She completed her honors thesis “Developing a Selection-Driven Transposition Approach for Increasing and Stabilizing Burdensome Gene Expression in Acinetobacter baylyi” under the mentorship of postdoc Isaac Gifford.
Katherine Dullen (B.S. Biology) was recognized with distinctions in research and service & leadership.
All three were members of the 2023 UT Austin iGEM team. Alexa and Katherine continued to work on wrapping up the 2023 iGEM project for publication.
Alexa was also the student speaker at the College of Natural Sciences commencement ceremony! (Here’s a link to a video of her speech.)
